How do I care for my jewellery items?

Sterling Silver
Silver will tarnish over time. We recommend cleaning with a silver cleaning cloth. We don't recommend dips as they can be very harsh and damaging if there are gem settings. To keep your silver jewellery in the best condition we would recommend keeping it in a cellophane bag when not being worn as this protects it from the elements which lead to tarnishing. Jewellery can also be affected by lotions, perfume and hairspray so it is always recommended to put on your jewellery last. Wearing for showering and swimming would not be recommended.
Stainless Steel, Surgical Steel, Tungsten and Titanium
These metals will not need the same care as sterling silver, but if you wish they can be washed in warm water with a mild soap and cloth. We would avoid wearing these when working with chemicals. We would suggest removing tungsten rings when doing manual work and if you hurt your hand as they are so tough it is difficult for them to be removed in hospital.

Costume Jewellery
We only sell good quality costume jewellery, it should last as would be expected for the price paid in comparison to more expensive metals. However, it doesn't have the longevity of silver as it cannot be cleaned in the same way. Depending on the type gentle cleaning may be possible. Some of our costume jewellery is rhodium plated to ensure it remains in as bought condition for longer. We would recommend careful storage and a gentle rub with a soft cloth if necessary.

Leather
We would recommend that you do not wear leather bracelets in the sea due to the effects of water on leather.

Pully bracelets
Please be particularly careful with bracelets that can be opened and then tightened with a 'pull' system, as these can be easily broken if pulled too hard. we would recommend adult assistance with the children's bracelets of this type.

Is everything locally made?

In order to offer our customers the best possible prices we do sell a mix of items made locally and further away. All of our suppliers are British companies but they do sometimes have items manufactured abroad. We endeavour to ensure that items made abroad are Fair Trade and ethically sourced. We stock as many locally made items as we can.

Do you value sustainability?

It is extremely important to us to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We recycle everything that we can including reusing packaging for packing purchases. We ensure that our new packaging is recyclable and/or contains recycled materials. We choose stockists who have strong sustainability policies. We sell several items made from recycled materials.
